A clinical display from a youthful Aberdeen side saw them defeat Buckie Thistle in the Semi Final of the Aberdeenshire Shield at Balmoor.
Buckie started the game well and Joe McCabe played a great ball in behind the Dons defence for Josh Peters, but his blasted effort was parried away by Tom Ritchie.
Peters and Scott Adams then combined well for Adams to draw another decent stop from Ritchie in the Dons goal.
The Jags took a deserved lead on 10 minutes when Darryl McHardy’s low cross from was gathered by Peters, who turned well and slotted the ball low beyond Ritchie from 12 yards.
Aberdeen levelled matters four minutes later, Alfie Bavidge played in behind by Aaron Reid and he curled a superb finish beyond Stuart Knight from inside the area.
Peters was looking sharp and he was desperately unlucky not to get his second on 18 minutes, his rasping drive from a Max Barry pass cannoning off the inside of the far post to safety.
Adams was next to try his luck for the visitors, he fired in a decent strike from 22 yards that was well saved by a flying Ritchie.
Jack MacIver then whipped in a good cross from the right flank, but it was just behind Max Barry and his header flew over.
Aberdeen went in front against the run of play on 38 minutes, Adam Emslie cutting in from the right and firing a low left-foot shot past Knight from 15 yards.
Finlay Marshall made it three-one two minutes later, his curling free kick from just outside the penalty area deflected into the top right-hand corner beyond a despairing Knight.
Peters missed a great chance to instantly reduce the deficit as he raced through on goal, but Ritchie saved well with his legs to deny the Jags number nine.
MacIver then crashed a great effort just past the near post from 25 yards with Ritchie at full stretch. It remained 3-1 at the break.
A poor pass gave Finlay Marshall the first opportunity of the second period, but Knight did well to parry the midfielder’s angled shot to safety.
Cohen Ramsay replaced Ryan Fyffe at left back around the hour mark, then Jack Murray pulled one back for the visitors on 63 minutes. The big defender worked his way forward and cracked an excellent strike low into the far corner from 22 yards for an impressive sixth goal in as many games.
Seven minutes later a drop ball on the edge of the Buckie box was lobbed to the far post and the unfortunate Murray could only head into his own net under pressure from Reid.
Stand in manager Lewis Mackinnon responded by replacing Joe McCabe with Lyall Keir, with Dale Wood dropping to right back and Max Barry slotting in alongside captain Sam Pugh in centre midfield.
Bavidge put the game beyond Jags six minutes from time, racing onto Alfie Stewart’s pass to round Knight and slot home from a tight angle.
Sam Morrison came on for Darryl McHardy with time running out, before Max Barry grabbed a consolation for Buckie at the death, firing low home from close range after a goalmouth scramble.
