RUTHLESS JAGS GO NAP AT BELLSLEA TO REACH FINAL

A double from Jack Murray and goals from Lyall Keir, Jack MacIver and Marcus Goodall gave Buckie a comprehensive win over Fraserburgh and sent them through to the final of the Aberdeenshire Cup, where they will meet Inverurie Locos.

Boss Graeme Stewart named the same outfield players who defeated Lossiemouth last midweek, while Stuart Knight replaced Tom Ritchie in goal with the Dons loanee playing for his parent club in the other semi-final. Darryl McHardy and Kevin Fraser remain out injured, while Hamish Munro is away with work.

Jack Murray had the first attempt at goal on five minutes, firing over the bar from the edge of the penalty area.

Lyall Keir then did well to set up Josh Peters, but he also blasted his shot over the crossbar.

Knight made a good block from Scott Barbour at point blank range on ten minutes, after the Broch hitman got on the end of a Ryan Sargent cross from the left.

Five minutes later Max Barry drove inside from the left flank and flashed a shot wide from 16 yards.

Keir gave Jags the lead on 20 minutes, latching onto a high ball forward from Barry, keeping his composure and dinking a superb lob over the retreating Joe Barbour from 22 yards.

Barbour made another error five minutes later, racing from his goal when Kieran Simpson looked to have it covered and miskicking the ball straight to MacIver, who rolled it into the empty net from outside the area.

Willie West blasted a good chance over when in space on the edge of the penalty area, but Broch did pull one back when Ross Aitken's strike from the edge of the box hit a defender and spun over Knight high into the net.

Buchan then drove a free kick deep into the box and it was scrambled clear by the visiting defence at the far post as the home side looked for an equaliser.

It was Buckie who struck next though, Jack Murray making it three on 42 minutes when he collected a half-cleared MacIver free kick and placed a fine finish into the right corner from 12 yards.

Barbour volleyed a chance wide early in the second half after Dale Wood slipped in the penalty area.

Max Barry then won a penalty for the visitors when his surging run from midfield was halted unceremoniously by Bryan Hay in the penalty area. Murray slammed the penalty high past Barbour for his second and Jags’ fourth of the evening.

Sargent sclaffed a chance wide at the other end, then blasted a low strike wide of the far post when clear on the left.

Barry had another superb run down the left flank, but this time his low drive was tipped round the post by Barbour for a corner.

Marcus Goodall replaced the injured MacIver with 20 minutes remaining, then Liam Harvey and Scott Adams came on for Peters and Keir.

Goodall made it two goals in two games when he got on the end of MacAskill’s pass and finished superbly from 30 yards beyond a despairing Barbour with nine minutes to go.

Aidan Sopel pulled another one back in injury time for the hosts, but it ended in an impressive 5-2 victory for the Jags, who go on to meet Inverurie Locos in the final.

A trip to Lossiemouth up next for Buckie as they return to league business on Saturday.
