Buckie produced a superb performance at Victoria Park to defeat Nairn County and climb back up to second in the table.
Six different Jags players found the net in an excellent all-round display by the home side.
Manager Graeme Stewart was delighted with the performance:
“We played some good football and controlled the game well, particularly in the first half.”
“We created a lot of chances and probably could have had two or three more goals. I thought Josh Peters was outstanding, he could easily have had a hat-trick.”
On a tough week ahead with a trip to Rothes in midweek, then Brechin at home:
“Max Barry came off with a bit of a sore knee so we’ll have him assessed on Monday. He and Jack MacIver were also outstanding today.”
“We move on to Rothes which is never an easy game. We know how they play, so we’ll have a game plan and hopefully we can execute it and get a result.”
Peters missed an early chance for Buckie, heading over at the far post from MacIver’s excellent cross from the right.
The Jags number nine did find the net nine minutes in, MacIver playing him in with a lovely through ball, and he fired beyond Dylan Maclean into the left corner of the net.
Three minutes later Peters raced onto Darryl McHardy’s raking ball through, only to be denied by Dylan Maclean at the near post.
Eleven minutes later it was two, Sam Pugh finding Barry on the right flank and he showed great skill to beat his man before cutting the ball back for MacIver, who fired low home from 10 yards.
Nairn missed a chance to get back into the match when George Robesten, who replaced the injured Conor Gethins, swung over a good cross from the left but Scott Davidson headed tamely wide.
Dale Wood scored Jags’ third and his first for the club in first half injury time, thundering a superb strike into the top right hand corner from 30 yards out.
On 49 minutes, Peters flicked on MacIver’s cross to Barry, who controlled superbly before slamming the fourth goal low past Maclean from eight yards.
Davidson was then denied by Stuart Knight after he latched onto Ben Kelly’s pass just beyond the hour mark.
Sub Scott Adams bagged goal number five in the 76th minute, turning neatly and drilling a shot into the left corner from 16 yards.
Marcus Goodall rounded off the scoring two minutes from time, forcing the ball home at the far post from Adams’ low cross.
Nairn boss Steven Mackay was frustrated with his charges:
“We just didn’t turn up from the first whistle to the last.”
“It's always tough coming here but the first thing you have to do is work hard and be compact.”
“We didn’t do that and gave Josh Peters too much space for the first goal.”
“It was a game we never competed in and were never going to win playing like that.”
On Conor Gethins early injury:
“Unfortunately his hamstring has gone as he turned so he could be out for a while. It’s a blow for us.
