Lossiemouth 2-1 Buckie Thistle

Lossiemouth dealt a huge blow to Buckie Thistle’s title hopes by coming from behind to defeat the Jags at Grant Park.

Two goals in two second half minutes from Dylan Lawrence and Ryan Farquhar turned it round for the home side, after Max Barry’s superb individual goal had Buckie ahead at the break.

Jack Murray had the first attempt at goal but drove his shot over the crossbar from 20 yards.

Max Barry fired a good chance just past the post from 14 yards, but he soon made amends on 18 minutes, producing superb skill to beat two or three defenders on the right of the six-yard box, before cutting inside Cameron Farquhar and slotting home.

A decent team move then saw Farquhar save well from Josh Peters’ low effort, with Marcus Goodall heading the rebound wide from close range.

Andrew MacAskill chipped an excellent ball in behind to Goodall just before the break, but after controlling well, he fired a volley over the crossbar.

Goodall missed an even better opportunity on 52 minutes, screwing his shot wide of the far post from Peters’ cross.

Two minutes later Dylan Lawrence latched onto a long ball over the top and lobbed an excellent finish over Tom Ritchie to make it one apiece.

The home side stunned Thistle with a second just over a minute later, Ryan Farquhar racing clear down the right and popping his finish over the stranded Ritchie.

Liam Harvey and Scott Adams came on for Josh Peters and Marcus Goodall as Graeme Stewart looked to turned things round for his side.

Dale Wood had a volleyed effort saved comfortably by Farquhar, then Jack Murray headed a chance straight at the keeper from MacAskill’s corner.

Adams curled a great strike just past the far post eight minutes from time, but the Jags couldn’t find an equaliser and slipped to a damaging defeat.

Banks o’ Dee are up next in a crucial top of the table clash at Victoria Park.
