DOMINANT JAGS CLOSE GAP AT THE TOP

Goals from Scott Adams, Sam Morrison and Joe McCabe gave Buckie Thistle a comfortable victory over Keith at Kynoch Park.

Manager Graeme Stewart made four changes to his starting line-up, as the Jags began an astonishing schedule of seven games in 16 days. Sam Morrison, Dale Wood, Marcus Goodall and Scott Adams replacing Ryan Fyffe, Jack MacIver, Andrew MacAskill and Josh Peters.

Sam Pugh had the first effort at goal for the visitors, bringing a save from Reid at his near post after a flowing move down the right.

Jack Murray’s low shot from Max Barry’s clever short corner was blocked by the home defence on nine minutes.

Adams was then played in behind by Barry, but his low cross was well held by Reid.

Barry had a brilliant run through the Keith defence in the 18th minute, Reid reacting well to parry away his blasted effort from 15 yards.

Adams flicked a header over from Barry’s ball in just before the half hour mark, but the Jags forward soon grabbed the opener on 31 minutes. He latched onto Jack Murray’s threaded pass, turned nicely in the box to make space and fired a deflected strike high beyond Reid into the net.

Murray’s shot from 16 yards was deflected wide for a corner right on half time.

Andrew MacAskill and Jack MacIver came on for Lyall Keir and Barry at the break as manager Graeme Stewart rotated his side.

Sam Morrison made it two on 49 minutes, attacking Murray’s cross from the left to head home from eight yards, as the visitors claimed for a foul on Adams in the penalty area.

MacIver then had a shot deflected wide for a corner that came to nothing.

Goodall was unlucky to make it three on the hour mark, cutting inside his man and curling a great shot off the inside of the post from a tight angle.

MacAskill blasted a shot well over after a short corner ten minutes later.

MacIver then did well to get down the left hand side of the box, but his dangerous low cross was blocked away for a corner.

Joe McCabe made it three eleven minutes from time, his deep cross from the right flank soaring beyond a despairing Reid and into the far corner of the net.

The visitors were still looking to add to their tally and Goodall smashed an excellent strike just over the crossbar from the edge of the penalty area, before missing a great chance from 10 yards after a good run down the left from Ramsay.

The game ended in a comprehensive win for the visitors, who move quickly on to a meeting with Brora Rangers at Victoria Park on Wednesday night.
