Manager Lewis Mackinnon was without the injured Josh Peters and unavailable Sam Pugh, he restored Dale Wood and Marcus Goodall to the midfield and Darryl McHardy came in for Hamish Munro at the back. Kevin Fraser took the captains armband in the absence of Pugh.

Jags got off to the perfect start, taking the lead after only four minutes. Lyall Keir stole possession on the right flank, fed Jack MacIver and his superb cross was headed into the far corner by the head of Marcus Goodall.

Jack MacKay poked an effort at goal on 11 minutes for the home side, but it didn’t trouble Mark Ridgers.

Keir then fired a good chance straight at Joe Malin after being played in behind by MacIver.

At the other end, hesitation from the visitors saw Jack Davison burst into the penalty area and his blasted shot was well saved by Ridgers.

The Jags number one then produced another good stop from a James Anderson effort, before Joe McCabe got in behind on the right and his dangerous low cross was deflected over the crossbar by the inrushing Innes McKay.

A good move from the visitors ended with Andy MacAskill making space for himself, only to pull his left-footed shot wide from 16 yards.

McCabe had a drive deflected over for a corner on 39 minutes, then the influential Jags full-back volleyed an effort wide from MacIver’s near post cross.

Goodall then did well to chase down a long ball from Ryan Fyffe and set up Keir, but his strike went way over the bar from the edge of the penalty area.

Right on half time, MacIver fired a free kick just wide of the right post from 25 yards.

McCabe got on the end of a superb run and cross from Keir on 46 minutes, but his goal bound effort was well blocked by Ben Cormack.

Jack MacKay had a strike at goal five minutes later, but again it lacked the power to trouble Ridgers in the visitors goal.

Buckie made it two-nil just before the hour mark, MacIver playing Keir through on goal and after Malin saved his shot, Kevin Fraser followed up to slam home his first goal since returning from long-term injury.

Ridgers made a great save from a low drive from Connor Bunce with 20 minutes remaining to preserve the visitors two-goal lead.

Keir almost made it three in the 80th minute, showing great persistence to win the ball and flash a shot right across the face of goal.

A thoroughly professional performance from the Jags against a Clach side that has started the season in excellent form, the perfect response to the disappointment against Brechin last time out.

Two big games up next at Victoria Park, Fraserburgh in the Aberdeenshire Cup on Wednesday night, followed by Banks o’ Dee on league business on Saturday.
